Who We Are
IEC (Institute for Exceptional Care) is a national nonprofit working to make healthcare better and safer for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD).
IEC works together with people with IDD, their families, and healthcare professionals. They create tools, programs, and campaigns to change how healthcare is taught, provided, and paid for.
Our Story
IEC was founded by healthcare professionals who have personal experience supporting family members with IDD. The goal is to create big, lasting changes in healthcare that improve the well-being of people with IDD.
Our Team
IEC has the reputation, relationships, and dedication to make real change for people with IDD in healthcare. Our staff's knowledge of how to improve healthcare means we understand the system. Our personal experience of having IDD or supporting loved ones with IDD helps us gain and keep the trust of the disability community.
