We are excited to announce a new opportunity for clinicians to earn continuing education credits: Positive Discourse: Communication Disabilities 101 for Healthcare Professionals. This is a CE course designed to strengthen communication and clinical care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Developed with clinicians and self-advocates, Positive Discourse provides practical, evidence-based skills that help healthcare professionals communicate more effectively with patients who have speech, language, hearing, auditory-processing, or vision-related communication disabilities. The content aligns with ADA requirements and core interprofessional communication competencies.
Through case examples, prevalence data, and a simple five-step framework: Communicate directly, Ask preferences, Adapt style, Be patient, Check understanding. Clinicians learn straightforward strategies that reduce errors, improve patient satisfaction, and build trust.
