With recent policy changes creating new obstacles for trans youth and their families, being an informed ally can make a big difference in improving healthcare for the trans disability community.
For Pride Month, we’re sharing soothing, helpful, and nonjudgemental resources to inform us how the trans community often overlaps with disability and healthcare. These three resources were selected with everyone in mind, but especially allies who are looking to learn more about the basics of offering meaningful support.
1. Sometimes You’re A Caterpillar

A cute and relatable animated video that serves as a primer to understanding privilege.
2. A Guide Towards Allyship

This helpful guide from TransWhat? explains everything you need to know about getting started as an ally. It includes steps for introducing key concepts, a glossary of terms, debunked misconceptions, information on transitions, and a list of ways to combat transphobia.
3. Trans 101 with Puppets

Learn about gender, pronouns, and what it means to be trans from puppets. Explore the library of Instagram reels from Trans Puppet Guys!
